22 SFF Books on My TBR That I Want to Read in 2022

2022 is going to be a year of reading for me. I have not made it the priority that I want it to be (and that I honestly should if I’m going to call myself a writer). Last year especially I wanted to read a lot more than I did.

Back in 2020, I did the twelve books challenge to get me to read a book every month that has been sitting on my TBR. It was so successful for me, I’ve decided to do it again this year (but with indie books instead). It got me thinking that setting a similar, year-long goal might help me get through more of my TBR.

The following 22 books I own either digitally or physically, and I plan to read all of them before the end of 2022:

1. The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch

2. The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive #1) by Brandon Sanderson

3. Dune (Dune #1) by Frank Herbert

4. The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time #1) by Robert Jordan

5. Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights Anthology edited by Chris Bain, Patrick Weekes, Matthew Goldman, Christopher Morgan

6. The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

7. Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

8. Malice (The Faithful and the Fallen #1) by John Gwynne

9. The Gathering of the Lost (The Wall of Night #2) by Helen Lowe

10. The Mask Falling (The Bone Season #4) by Samantha Shannon

11. Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

12. Five Dark Fates (Three Dark Crowns #4) by Kendare Blake

13. Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) by Mark Lawrence

14. Jade City (The Green Bone Saga #1) by Fonda Lee

15. Fugitive Telemetry (The Murderbot Diaries #6) by Martha Wells

16. The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling #1) by Erika Johansen

17. Theft of Swords (The Riyria Revelations #1-2) by Michael J. Sullivan

18. The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy #1) by S.A. Chakraborty

19. The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter (The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club #1) by Theodora Goss

20. The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth #1) by N.K. Jemisin

21. Traitor’s Blade (Greatcoats #1) by Sebastien de Castell

22. The Rook (The Checquy Files #1) by Daniel O’Malley

  1. This is such a good list! I hope you enjoy Sanderson – Way of Kings is the book that got me out of a 3 year long reading slump, and I’m looking forward to starting Elantris and Wheel of Time this year. I’ll have to check out the rest of them! It looks like we share many of the same tastes 🙂

    1. You have excellent taste 😉 I’m in the middle of his Mistborn series right now and I’m really enjoying it. I just like how he writes fantasy 😄
