Pokemon Sword/Shield: Favourite Galar Pokemon

A few weeks back I (painfully) narrowed down my top 5 Pokemon of every generation, so it’s only fair that I do the same for the new set. With all the controversy over the Pokedex changes, it’s not as big a roster of new Pokemon as we’re used to, but there are still some amazing options to add to your team.

So, even though it was brutally hard to narrow it down to just 5 the first time, I’ve done it again for the new Galar Pokemon. Suffering for content.

Pokemon Sword & Shield: Remaking the Wheel

Let me start off by saying that this is not a review of Pokemon Sword/Shield. I certainly have some thoughts about the game that I’m going to share, but I won’t call it a ‘review.’ I made the decision not to do reviews on this platform, mainly because I’m not an expert, reviews are subjective, and I’ve never been comfortable assigning a numerical value to my experience with something.

Maybe I’ve just been put off by the book industry, but I find it really hard to come up with a system that can adequately capture my feelings about a movie, game or book. Instead, I prefer to have open discussions and talk about what I liked or what I didn’t like. I’ve been anticipating this game since it was first announced, and as the first core title on the Switch, I had some high expectations.

Sword/Shield Hype: Top 5 Pokemon from Each Generation (aka Alyssa’s Galar Dex Wishlist)

You’re about to see just how big of a geek I really am.

I’ve been playing the Pokemon games since they came out in 1998. That’s over twenty years! As I wrap up Pokemon Y and Let’s Go Pikachu, I’ve played just about every core Pokemon game, as well as a few of the classics (Pokemon Snap, anyone?)

Now I know there have been about 2000 leaks for Sword/Shield and a ton of the Pokemon listed here might have been confirmed, but I’m trying to avoid too many spoilers, so please, keep this a spoiler-free zone.

But anyway, I’m getting really hyped about the new Pokemon game that comes out next week! Unfortunately, I’ve also fallen behind on my writing, so I really need to catch up if I want to justify all the time I hope to spend playing it next weekend!

What I’m Playing (& Video Game Backlog)

This is a bit of a different post from my usual stuff, but I really want to incorporate more book content, game content and just more sff related goodness, so I thought this would be a good place to start. I’m kind of a geeky gal, and I want my blog to reflect that.

Video games are a big part of my life, and if I’m not watching or reading something (or y’know actually trying to live up to that author title), I’m probably playing something. I’ve mentioned this before, but the level of escapism that some games provide is really helpful for keeping my stress low (and I need that at this time of year, believe me!).
